CLASH have been a team for over ten years. We now also run a formal community action group, Save North St Albans Green Belt.

We are always need more members to join our merry bunch of local residents from North St Albans with families, jobs and pets, who feel passionately about saving our precious green belt for several reasons. This is not NIMBYism. We are ready and happy to fight with other groups facing similar threats and against councils that give in to the temptations of well funded developers in order to fulfil outdated housing targets without due consideration to alternatives.

The pandemic showed us the importance of green spaces for mental and physical well-being. Some of us are so acutely aware of the dual crises of Climate Change and Biodiversity Loss, that this is one way we try to save what we can close by. Others worry about our children walking to the 4 nearby schools, breathing in high levels of pollution. Due to the bad traffic, most of us struggle to get out of our driveways in the mornings. We all know of the pressures on our water supply, particularly with a changing climate. And with the difficulties of finding school places or GP appointments, this is the wrong location for more housing.
